Athletic Program

Summit Everest Charter High School Athletic Program

All athletic registrations are not be done through www.AthleticClearance.com. We are currently accepting registrations only for Fall Sports.

Winter & Spring sports registration will open approximately 6 weeks prior to the season start date. Start dates for Winter Sports are November 4 & Spring Sports will start on February 3.

Physicals

Students are required to have a health physical to participate in the Sports Program. Make an appointment with your doctor after June 1 to cover the entire school year for all sports. Physicals are good for one year. Example: A June 2, 2019 covers the school year 2019 to 2020. A hard copy of the physical must be turned into school prior to tryouts.

Health Physical Form included in the Summit Everest Athletics Packet 2019-2020.

Grade Eligibility Requirements

In order to participate in athletics at Summit Everest, all students MUST remain in good academic standing with the school. Mentors will report each week which students are not “passing” and those students will not be allowed to participate until they have caught up with their work. Students MUST remain “on track” and that are not missing more than 1 Cognitive skill will remain eligible. Expedition classes will not be tracked for athletic eligibility. Any athlete that is ineligible will NOT be allowed to attend practice, or participate in games.

Time Commitment

Students that participate in a sport at Everest are expected to commit their time to practices and games. Our teams practice 3-5 days per week, including games, depending on the coach’s schedule and gym availability. Practice times vary depending on gym/field schedules, so it is important that you keep a schedule and open communication with your coach. Practices are typically 1.5 – 2 hours. Games, especially away games, require more time and will require some help in setting up the facility.

Donations & Fundraisers

Donations are gladly accepted at any time. You may choose to donate at the time of online registration. The recommended donation is $150.00 per sport. You may also mail or drop off donations at school made out to “Summit Everest Athletics”.

Multiple Teams

Students who participate in a varsity sport are prohibited from playing the same sport during the same season for another organization. In other words, if a student plays varsity girls volleyball at Summit Prep, that student is prohibited from participating on a club team volleyball team during the fall season. (California Interscholastic Federation-Central Coast Section “CIF-CCS” Regulation)

Facilities

The Summit Everest campus does not include athletic facilities, so we must use facilities off the school grounds. Per our charter agreement with the Sequoia Union High School District, we have access to many of their schools’ facilities and have agreements in place for each of our sports. We currently use gyms and fields at Carlmont HS, Sequoia HS, and Woodside HS. We also have an agreement with Redwood City Parks & Recreation to use some of their fields for play.

Transfer Students

If a student transferred from another high school and he/she desires to play a sport, please contact the Athletics Director, Mike Lofberg, at mlofberg@summitps.org with your availability and team interested in working with.
