Everest Newsletter: February 27th, 2019

Dear Everest Community,

I hope this message finds you well.

Last night, I shared a few updates about Everest during our State of the School Meeting. The purpose of these meetings, which happen three times per year, is for families to hear about what is going on behind the scenes at Everest and to hear about plans for the coming months. Please mark your calendars now for our final State of the School Meeting on Tuesday, April 23rd at 7pm. (See a summary of last night’s event below.)

I want to take the opportunity to highlight a few important announcements:

  • We are moving our school newsletter to once a month. We have been using Konstella announcements for one-off events and reminders, and we will continue to use this communication tool between school newsletters like this one.
  • We need your parent involvement!
    • First, study trips are coming up in six weeks, and teachers are passing out permission slips this week and next week. Please sign up to be a parent driver! We are hiring one bus per grade, but still need about 10-12 drivers per grade. Find more info here.
    • Second, there are a few parent committee where we need more volunteers, including our graduation and fundraising committees. Please let Natasha or me know if you can help!

It is a busy time of the year, but I will close with some positive and uplifting news. At the end of January, the chairperson for our WASC committee (more info below!) visited Everest, and she spent a half day visiting classrooms and speaking with students and teachers. Before our chairperson concluded her visit, she debriefed her time with me and shared glowing praise about the hard work of our teachers as well as the visible impact on students. While teachers and I are often at “the tip of the spear” in thinking about what we want to improve at Everest, this visit was a powerful reminder that there are many reasons to be proud of our school. 🙂

Thank you!
