Summer Opportunities

Summers are an incredible opportunity for students to grow and develop towards their long term goals.

Everest is excited to offer Summer of Summit as an internal and free summer option for our students. More details for 2016 will be forthcoming.

There are also multiple summer opportunities in the broader community. Although we do not work directly with any of the organizations or individuals listed below, and although we do not directly endorse any of them, we wanted to provide a space to compile a list of options that might be of interest to our students.

 Arthritis Foundation 2016 Summer Science Internship This program places 12 outstanding students in laboratories at the University of California, San Francisco and Stanford University.  Interns receive hands on experience in the fields of rheumatology and immunology. February 20, 2016
 2016 Facebook Summer Academy This is a six-week internship program at Facebook for currently enrolled local high school sophomores. February 15, 2016
 Summer Math and Science Honors Academy (SMASH) SMASH is a free of cost, STEM-intensive, college preparatory program for underrepresented high school students of color. SMASH boasts a rigorous 5-week, 3-year summer STEM enrichment program which provides access to rigorous coursework, mentors, role models, and support networks consisting of people of color. SMASH scholars remain engaged during the school year through monthly STEM activities and workshops. The program not only reinforces the students’ STEM academic identities, but also focuses on developing their critical thinking, civic awareness, leadership and sense of social responsibility. Early Application Deadline: February 1, 2016

 Blue Stamp Engineering BlueStamp Engineering is a six-week, hands-on summer program where high school students build technology projects they’re passionate about. Each student selects their own projects and completes the program with 2 projects (which they keep). They also develop their own personal online portfolio that details their journey with videos, technical descriptions of their work, milestones, and blog postings.
